Engineers Day 2020 – आज 15 सितम्बर है,और आज का दिन है Engineers का यानि अभियंताओ का क्युकी इसी दिन भारत में हर साल एम विश्वेश्वरैया जी की जयंती होती है और इसलिए आज के दिन को Engineers Day के रूप में मनाया जाता है ।

एम विश्वेश्वरैया का जन्म सन 1861 में चिक्कबल्लापुर (बेंगलुरु से 55 किमी दूर) में हुआ था। उन्होंने आर्ट्स में स्नातक करने के बाद पुणे जाकर कॉलेज ऑफ़ इंजीनियरिंग से सिविल इंजीनियरिंग की। एम विश्वेश्वरैया सिंचाई तकनीक और बाढ़ आपदा प्रबंधन के विशेषज्ञ थे, उनके प्रमुख योगदानों में से एक ‘स्वचालित जल बाढ़ बाधा ‘ को डिजाइन करना था जिसे 1903 में पुणे के पास खडकवासला जलाशय में पहली बार स्थापित किया गया था और जिसके परिणाम बहुत ही अच्छे थे।

विश्वेश्वरैया जी ने मैसूर के दीवान के रूप में भी कार्य किया, जहाँ उन्होंने कई बड़ी कम्पनियो की स्थापना की जैसे मैसूर सोप फैक्ट्री, बैंगलोर कृषि विश्वविद्यालय, स्टेट बैंक ऑफ़ मैसूर और मैसूर आयरन एंड स्टील वर्क्स, शिक्षा पर विशेष ध्यान देते हुए उन्होंने 1917 में गवर्नमेंट इंजीनियरिंग कॉलेज की स्थापना की, जिसे अब विश्वविद्यालय विश्वेश्वरैया कॉलेज ऑफ इंजीनियरिंग के नाम से जाना जाता है।

विश्वेश्वरैया जी को कई गवर्निंग काउंसिल में भी रहने का मौका मिला जैसे भारतीय विज्ञान संस्थान, बैंगलोर और टाटा आयरन एंड स्टील कंपनी के सदस्य रहे, साथ ही उनको भारतीय राज्यों के भविष्य के बारे में सलाह देने के लिए 1917 में गठित एक समिति का हिस्सा बनाया गया और 1955 में देश के विकास में उल्लेखनीय योगदान के लिए भारत रत्न से सम्मानित किया गया ।
